In Memory

Barbara Merker(Magliochetti) - Class Of 1971

Barbara E. Merker passed away after a brave and courageous battle with cancer on August 25, 2016 in East Fishkill, NY. Born on November 10, 1953 in Tarrytown, NY, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Patricia Merker.

Barbara’s greatest joy were her two sons, Christopher and Jonathan Fulgum. The sun rose and set in both of them.

Her second greatest joy was her love for her horse, Mystery. Thirty-nine years old, he passed away a few days before she did. We’re certain they are riding together now.

Barbara was a musician (violin), a painter, and a poet. Her sense of humor knew no bounds. She was that one person you know who could give you a true belly-laugh.

Her loss will be felt deeply by her family and by her many friends.

She is survived by her sister, Susan Merker Davidson (Paul); her brother William Merker (Linda) her sister, Janet Merker Liebold (Allan); nieces Jessica Madden, Carla Merker Engelsman (Derek), Christina Merker Jerrold (Nicholas); great-nephew, James Madden; great-niece, Emma Jerrold.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Little Brook Farm, P. O. Box 127, Old Chatham, NY 12136 where she kept Mystery.

Calling hours will be at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home, 170 Kings Ferry Rd., Montrose, on Thursday, 9/1, from 4-8 pm.

Barbara was a dear friend. The last time we were together we had a great time on Stephen Cole's boat while on the Hudson River.  I had the opportunity to discover how wonderful she was as we conversed about many things.
