In Memory

William Peter Vanca - Class Of 1972

Bill (Bum) was a great friend.  While at HHHS we often visited his home after school where we could hang and enjoy all of the things boys like to do.  We knew that Bill would make something special of his future, he was headed to RPI and would continue to enjoy his education.

Bill has been living in South Carolina and would always join us around Christmas.  He would drive up to see his brother Mike and this is why Mike started the informal get together that we continue to enjoy.

It has been a pleasure to have a life long friendship with Bill - Joe Brown '72

""I am so sad for the loss of one of our great friends, Bill Vanca.  Bill was the epitomy of a true gentlemen with such a wonderful, caring personality.  We have lost so many Sailors in our class.  I will miss seeing Bill at our mini reunion each year at The Stadium.  Does anyone know of a NY services for him?  Our Hen Hud group is shrinking. My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and his brother and family.  RIP, Bum!  You will be greatly missed!"

Bum,

I will always remember him as a great friend, athletic, very respectable of everybody, smart, witty, and fun.

May the memories of Bum always be great as he always was.

My deepest sympathy and sincerest hope for comfort to Mike and Karen.

Love and Miss you

Chris

Bill was a close and dear friend. During high school I practically lived at his and Mike's house after school and during the Summer. I have so many good memories of our time and adventures together. He always made me feel like I was part of his family. I looked forward to seeing him at our Christmas reunion each year. My love and prayers go out to Karen and Mike. I will miss him greatly

I was saddened to hear the news about Bill.  I'll always rememeber him as a great leader on the football team and an all around great guy.  Like a lot of you, I spent a lot of time with Mike & Bill at their house drinking Piels Light and eating peanut M&M's, an affliction I still suffer from today (the peanut M&M's that is.)

My heartfelt condolences go out to Mike & Karen.  Bill was one of the great guys and will be missed.
